Gifted Children Should be classified in Special Class

All praise be to Allah SWT who has been giving us the mercy and blessing, so we always in Allah guidance. Shalawat with salam we send to our big prophet Muhammad SAW and his relatives, with says Allah humma salliala saiyidina Muhammad wa’ala saiyida Muhammad. Wish we can get his syafaat at Yaumi Akhir, later.

The honorable all the jury’s of this speech competition, the honorable teachers, and all my dear friends, ladies and gentlemen.

An honorary for me standing here to give a speech to all about Gifted children should or shouldn’t be classified in special class.

I agree, with the first statement, that is gifted children should be classified in a special class.

Why I choose this topic?

Because, the gifted students are the people have the best natural ability and high IQ, and have greater psychomotor, cognitive, sensual, imaginative, intellectual, and emotional.

Based on our national education law system, article 5, verse 4 that “The country people who has intelligence potential and amazing  trace, has the right to get the special education”. Besides that, “Every participant of education in its unit has the right to get education serving appropriate by their trace, interest, and ability” (article 12, verse 1b).

Base on the context, so the gifted students must get the special curriculum.

By many reference said that around 10 – 15% children in the world, have special and high ability than their peer friends.

One of the opinions from the educational expert, Bandung Technology Institute, Mr Alfian Bahar. He said that from many hundred even 1.000 children in a place, only one child has ability to follow the special class like acceleration class.

Superiorities of the gifted students, as follows:

• A high regular intelligence ability, sign like IQ more than 120.

• Amazing trace in their sure field, like language, mathematic, art, etc.

• A high creativity to think, that’s means ability to invent the newest ideas .

•  The appears of lead ability, that’s means to direct the right way by the group hopes.

•  Amazing achievement in their field, like drama, paint, etc.

Ladies and gentlemen and all my dear friends, the gifted student have regular specific characteristic:

•   Gifted students who has amazing trace always has development stage is not jointly.

•   Gifted students not only have the best ability, but always use the different steps than their friends, too.

•   Gifted students have ability to receive a lot of information, together.

•   Gifted students seldom get the best achievement; even they indicate the strange habit, like boring with the explaining manner of their teachers.

•   Their thinking development is so far than their motoric development, finally they talk by stammer.

The honorable jury’s, the honorable teachers, and all my dear friends.

Based on the text above, by the opinion of National Education Department, Mr. Siswandi, said that when the gifted students study together with the regular students, so there are  some detriment, such as:

•  Gifted students will be frustration, because cannot get the best serving.

•   Their teachers and their classmate will be disturbed by gifted students behavior.

•   Gifted students will be boring, because must adapt with the speed of the other students.

•   Their intelligence potential cannot be develop as optimal.

Generally, Mr. Dr. Herry Widyastono, children psychology expert, said that children intelligence are classified into 3 groups, that is child has ability up of average, average, and under of average.

Drs. Edy Junaedi, Sastradiharja, M. Pd from Al – Azhar Syifa Budi Jakarta school, said that to implement the gifted students development, there are some stage, those are special school, special class, and special program for anticipation the exclusive thinking and support the social skill development.

That’s group must be classified in its each class. It doesn’t means to discriminate regular students from the gifted students. But, it means to increase their knowledge by their each ability.

Some serves possibility to gifted students, as follows:

•  Organize the acceleration program to gifted students

•  Home – schooling (informal education)

•  Organize the regular class by approach

•   Building the class to trace student, especially

Gifted students feel that acceleration class, home – schooling or special class organizing are the each other alternative choice for them. By this program, enable the students to finish the learning times are fast than decision.

Why I don’t choose gifted children shouldn’t be classified in a special class ?

Because, look the regular education organizing during some latest years, there are many program inclined have characteristic massive classical, that is be oriented in quantity to serve as many students. The weakness appears from its program is the individual necessity of students are not accommodations in outside normal group.

Ok remaining limitedness of the time I think that all of my speech about gifted students should or shouldn’t classified in a special class topic.

I can get the conclusion, however, acceleration class organizing for students who have ability and amazing intelligence is each other relevant alternative strategy, because they have the best learn speed and high learn motivation than their peer students.

The Gifted Children Shouldn’t be classified in Special Class

Good morning, my honorable juries, my honorable audiences, my honorable friends and ladies and gentleman, it’s my honor because you give me a chance to tell you about my speech.

Ok, I want to introduce my self; I’m Erica Chandra, from Junior High School 02 Dumai. First I’d like to explain you about giftedness levels. The giftedness levels : Bright : 115-129 or 1 in six ( 84% ), Moderately Gifted: 130-144 or 1 in 50 (97.9%), highly gifted : 145-159 or 1 in 1000 (99.9%), Exceptionally Gifted : 160-174 or 1 in 30,000 (99.997%), Profoundly Gifted : 175+ or 1 in 3 million (99.99997%).

I choose this statement because, after I browse the internet and observe the gifted children, that be classified in a special class at my school. There are many disadvantages. Half of them are arrogant, their egoism get higher than before, they think the regular class are a bad class than special class that we called at Junior High School 02 Dumai by Acceleration. The regular class can be jealous with the gifted children, just because they have greater psychomotor, sensual, imaginative, intellectual, emotional “over excitabilities”, like what Kazimiers Dabrowski suggest. According to DMGT or Different Model of Giftedness and Talent theory “one cannot be talented before first being gifted”. Besides that, the lesson that regular study for one year, the gifted children must catch or study that lesson for one semester or 6 months. Because of that they must study hard and work hard. At intellectual side, their potential can be trust, intellectual giftedness is an intellectual ability that higher than average. But they are not a machine that can be set for one activity. There are many things that the gifted children want to do, not just study, study, and study.

If they don’t be classified in a special class, they life can change. They life can be more colorful and happy. Because they can have many friends, that support him or her to do something. They can share their knowledge with the children, who need they help. Gifted children, who study in a special class, their social relationship is very low. In that special class, all the children are gifted, they can’t sharing they knowledge, and just do their own work by themselves, and didn’t need anyone help.

That’s not a good thing. The entire human is SOCIAL ORGANISM. And social organism means, every human cannot live without anybody. Everybody need someone help. I think most of them been called by “Freaky Children”. Because, their attitude are so weird than ordinary children. They are more silent and like to be alone with their books. That’s prove, their social relationship are very low.

Albert Einstein is one of the gifted children in the world. Without be classified in a special class, he can be genius too. He unfinished his school. And he read a lot of books in his house. And because of his works, he can be success.

Isolation is one of main challenge faced by gifted individuals, especially those with not social network of gifted peers. Gifted children will often try to hide their abilities to win social approval. The isolation experienced by gifted individuals may not be caused by giftedness itself, but by society’s response to giftedness. D.E. Hamachek identified six specific, overlapping types of behavior associated with perfectionism. They include : 1. Depression 2. a nagging “ I should” felling 3. Shame and guilt felling 4. Face-saving behavior 5. Shyness and procrastination 6. Self-deprecation

Generally, gifted children learn more quickly, deeply, and broadly than their peers. Gifted children may learn to read early and operate at the same level as normal children who are significantly older. And they demonstrate high reasoning ability, creativity, curiosity, a large vocabulary, and an excellent memory. They often can master concept with few repetitions. While early development (speaking and reading at a very young age) usually comes with giftedness, it is not a determinant of giftedness. As the child becomes older, easy classes and emotional issues may slow or obstruct the rate of intellectual development.

How to Increase Your English Vocabulary

Many students are having trouble in increasing their vocabulary. That means, they are having trouble in their English development too, ’cause vocabulary is the most important thing in learning English. So, increasing your vocabulary must be as learning its grammar.
So, how to increase your vocabulary? Many students usually try to memorize them all, if you do that, you’ll be crazy in a minute, ’cause, there are more than 60.000 English word to memorize!
No, you can’t do that, learning English just like Indonesian, learning anytime you have.
Anyway, it’s still difficult, because English isn’t our language.
So, I have an easier way to learn it.

1. Read
Read English book, stories, notes, anything! Then, write every new word you can find. Spend a little time to read it again and again.
2. Talk
Tries to say those words correctly, then spell it, fast and clear. And never say “I am shame”.
3. Doing a Dialog
Ask somebody you can trust, it can be your parents, teacher, neighbors, or friend to do a dialog. Start it with introducing yourself to somebody else. Remember, more practice, there’ll be more experience you’ll have.
4.Never Say Goodbye
Never give up on learning something new about English. It’s the way it is there’ll be always some new things to learn. If you want to expert in English, you’ll have to be as though as a rock. First, it’s very difficult. Then, the success will be yours…

The Legend of Lau Kawar

Once upon time, there was a big feast in kawar village, tanah karo. The villagers celebrated their successful harvest. They were singing and dancing the feast.

Meanwhile, an old woman was alone at home. She didn’t go to the party because she was sick. When she felt hungry, she went to the kitchen but there was no food there she was very sad.

In the party, the son remembered his mother was at home. He wrapped some rice and a fried fish for his mother. Then he asked his daughter to give the food to her grandma.

The little girl ran home. But on her away she stopped and ate the food. After eating the food, she wrapped the food again. When she arrived at home, she gave the food to the old woman.

The old woman unwrapped the food and felt very disappointed. There was only very little rice and a fishbone.

She cried and prayed to got “oh god! I beg you to eliminate this place and all the people here because they have forgotten an old woman, like me!”

Suddenly, thunder came. The sky turned dark. The land was shaking a then turned into a big crate. The rain was pouring on it. It didn’t stop for several days. When it stopped, the village disappeared. There was a large lake replaced it. People called it “lau kawar”. It means Kawar Lake.

GOLDEN SNAIL

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom in Java. One day, the kingdom was attacked by another kingdom. it was a huge battle.

The king asked his queen to save her live. Alas! At the middle jungle the enemy killed all guards. The queen prayer “oh god! Please change me into a snail so I can save my life.  “God answered her prayer she turns into a golden snail.

One day a old woman saw the snail and took in home. She looked after it. Every time the old woman was not at home, the snail turned into a human being. She cooked and did he household chores, when the old woman go home, the queen quickly turned into a golden snail again. The old woman was curious.

One day the old woman peeped and saw what was going on. She broke in immediately. she asked” why did you change your self into a snail?!” the queen told her what had happened. The old woman was surprised to know that the snail was a queen.

Later, from the head of the village they knew that the king won the battle. He was also looking for his wife. The villagers then sent a messenger to the king to tell him that his wife saves.

Several days later, the king and his guards came to picked up the queen. They thanked the villagers for the kindness.

A Bowl of Magic Flour

Once upon a time, there was a farmer living in a small village in England. His name was Jack. He was a kind and wise man. He liked to help his neighbors.
Jack had a mill machine. People came to his place to mill their grain. Jack served them happily. However, his wife was a very stingy, mean woman. She often complained. She was angry every time Jack spared some food to the neighbors.
One day, a fairy dropped at their house. The fairy gave them bowl of magic flour. The wife took half and cooked it porridge. She was eating it and said, “I wish all the flour at this place turned in to gold.”
When people came to mill their grain, the grain turned into gold, too. At first, they were happy because they had a lot of gold. However, after several weeks there was no flour at the village. Instead, there was gold everywhere. Everybody was hungry and unhappy.
One day, Jack was cleaning his house. Suddenly, he found the bowl of the magic flour. He cooked and ate it. “Oh, I miss the flour.  I wish all the gold turned into flour again!” he said. Suddenly, all the gold turned into flour. Everybody was happy.

KANCIL AND CROCODILE

Mouse deer was clever mouse deer he had many enemies. One of them was crocodile. The crocodile lived in a river near by a forest. One day the mouse deer went to the river it was a hot day. The mouse deer wanted to take a bath. The crocodile saw the Mouse deer. Then, slowly behind the mouse deer and caught him. He grabbed of the mouse deer’s leg.

The mouse deer was terrified. Then, he had idea. He saw twig floating near him. he picked it up and said” you are so stupid!” you are biting a twig-not my leg. Here, this is my leg.” He showed the crocodile the twig. The crocodile was stupid. He believed the mouse deer. He freed the mouse deer leg and grabbed the twig. The mouse deer run away immediately.
